Human Capital & Talent Development
From the Superintendent
As we close out the 2023 calendar year and look ahead to the second half of the school year, I want to thank and recognize our students, families, staff and the community at large for all that you do as we work together with the common goal of preparing the next generation of leaders and citizens. The past year has been full of remarkable achievements despite stresses and challenges that never seem to let up. We certainly have a lot to brag about and that’s the purpose of a ‘3B’ campaign that we rolled out in November that touts ‘Bold Ideas’, ‘Big Impact’, and ‘Bright Future’ -- which are the hallmarks of our district. We are excited about the progress we are making as attendance is improving, math and reading scores are on the rise, our art and music programs continue to thrive, and students are highly engaged in a variety of experiences in STEM, Humanities, Communication, Business, Family and Consumer Science, Physical Education and more. In addition, our counseling and support staff continue to meet students’ academic and social emotional needs -- and this is crucial given the world in which we live. Ongoing violence in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world resonates here in Manchester, as many people in our school community are in pain and now, more than ever, we must see each other’s humanity, extend empathy towards one another, and stand against any forms of injustice -- both in our schools and beyond. Our work as educators is to influence and inspire the next generation. We strive to work in partnership with our families and the entire community to create thoughtful, informed, ethical, committed citizens who can go out into the world and make a much needed difference. Thanks again for all you do.
