A Survival Story Story

The winner of the Papyrus & Quills survival story competition, Greta Westfall, weaves a tale of primordial survival, enthralls the audience, and takes the prize. Members of the after-school creative writing club gathered Thursday in room 230 to hear original tales of daring written by members who braved the "survival story" challenge. Competing authors included: Elizabeth-Anne Gammeter, Jillian Murphy, Nicole Rybka, Dylan Ward, Greta Westfall, and Tyler Greene. When the dust settled, Greta was victorious, and she graciously accepted her DQ gift card prize. Poetry will be the genre for the March competition. During the next 4 weeks, participants will learn a variety of poetry forms, leading to a poetry throw down on March 23. The winner will enjoy the thrill of Papyrus & Quills bragging rights and a gift card prize. Come play with words at the weekly Papyrus & Quills creative writing club meetings, after school on Thursdays in room 230.

Fightin' Words

Gerry Navarra's email notice to MHS staff excusing wrestlers for Friday's tournament is in itself inspiring:

"Lo, once again the north wind blows and Lord Odin sounds his horn of battle, summoning the resolute to the front. Few brave souls have answered his call. Please excuse the following warrior-poets from class tomorrow as they leave for the L tournament and Ragnarok in faraway Bristol at 1:30 p.m."

There are lots of sports photos on the athletic department's Facebook page. You can see it here. Also, if you are looking for the MHS sports schedule it's  right here.
