Dear Waddell families,
As we launch into the holiday season, we wanted to take a moment to share some of the wonderful events and happenings that occurred in November. We began by celebrating Veteran’s Day, honoring over 78 of our Waddell family members. We want to especially thank the Veterans who were able to attend our celebration as well as Robert Venti, who spoke with our students about his experiences serving our country. We also had a wonderful Flashlight Reading Night with UCONN athletes where students were given hand powered flashlights and the book What If You Had Animal Hair!? by Sandra Markle. Furthermore, we had a very successful Thanksgiving donation and would like to thank the Church of the Nazarene for donating 10 turkeys and our Waddell staff and families for donating an additional 12 turkeys plus fix-ins to create baskets for our community, as well as the Waddell students who helped to assemble the baskets! We also had many families in for our Writer’s Celebrations in many of our grade levels, honoring the writing accomplishments of our young authors!
We are also entering a very exciting time, the preparation for our move to the Cheney Building in Bennet this upcoming fall and the beginning of our renovation. For more information, articles, and pictures of the proposed renovation, please visit our main page, www.mpspride.org, where you will find it as one of the main stories. We anticipate have an evening in January as well as in May to discuss progress at Waddell.
Looking ahead into the winter months, we hope you will join us at some of the many fun filled events such as the holiday school store, Winter Wonderland Family Fitness Night, and the Winter Concert. Also, Science Fair and Invention Convention registration is due by December 5 and we encourage all students to participate by creating an invention, conducting an experiment, or modeling a system. Robotics will also be having its first Manchester wide competition on December 17 at Illing Middle School. Waddell will have 3 robots that will be competing! Finally, please remember that with the cold weather, students will need warm coats, hats, and gloves for recess. Please contact the Family Resource Center if you need assistance with any of these items.
Have a safe and happy holiday season.
